Miguel Barrero

My name is Miguel Barrero, I am originally from Spain but I live in Berlin for five years now. Currently I am working for Serviceplan Berlin after having worked for almost three years, also as a Junior art director, in another agency, DDB Tribal Berlin. Previous to that I finished an art directing internship at Scholz & Friends Berlin. During these professional engagements I have learnt how to handle entire projects myself, to conceptualize, to find the right art direction for each project, to build motives and organize applied photography among other things , for clients like Ikea, Bosch, Volkswagen, Pattex, etc

In 2009, I completed my formal education on creative advertising at IED Madrid (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Madrid (Spain) and in order to broaden my horizons and see things from a different perspective, I moved in 2008 to Rotterdam (Netherlands) to study graphic design and advertising art direction thanks to an exchange program at Willem de Kooning Academie.

My passion has always lain within photography and graphic design. That is why early on, I studied photography and photography postproduction in Córdoba (Spain). I also worked as a photolab technician for 4 years where I learnt about Photography, retouching pictures, to build layouts, to develop photography process, and so forth.

Since the end of my studies of photography in 2002, I worked as a freelance photographer and graphic designer (for fashion, magazines, art works, etc). My hands-on experience from working as a photolab technician, a photographer and a graphic designer, combined with my studies and my profesional formation untill now, has prepared me with the necessary skills to become a trained and motivated art director within the advertising industry.
