The planning behind 'Rhino in the mud' drawing

The process for this drawing was long and intense. For the planning, I created a 3D printed model of a rhino and poured it over a clay slip, trying to make my hands look like they were emerging from a swampy landscape.

The drawing process involved slowly drawing every little detail in the rhino's skin. The cracks were super fun to do, but required a lot of attention.

I enjoyed the playfulness of planning this piece. The excitement of the process and expectations of how it might look when the drawing was finished gave me the energy to push through the tedious moments when I felt like it would take too long.
