The photograph was printed out on Hahnemuhle printmaking paper with a laser printer. The surface of the paper gave a mottled appearance to the image which wasn't what I was looking for, but does have a certain charm and makes the photo look more like a painting. The Hahnemuhle paper was a bit soft - it was easier to pierce the Canson Montval paper I had used in the other work I did for this course. I also preferred the general stiffness of the Canson Montval - it felt less fragile to work on, and probably was.

After I'd finished the tree I decided to put some French Knots under the tree to resemble autumn leaves that had fallen on the ground. I used 2 strands for the French Knots, but it was still a bit coarse for the image. I preferred the simplicity of just the tree and grass. There were just to many holes already in the 'grassy' area to put as many leaves as I would have liked. It probably would have worked fine on a larger image.

It’s very effective, the paper turned out to be an asset because it did create more texture. I love how the final project looks, well done.
hola Jennifer!

Thank you Gabriela and many thanks for presenting this lovely little course on stitching on photos. I have really enjoyed being part of it. I have done stitching on photos in the past, but many new ideas will come out of this course.
Cheers
Jenny
I really like how you made the 'disadvantage' of your paper into a huge advantage!
The outcome would have been so different on a less textured paper. ❤️
