Caribbean Melancholia

Walk to the dock, make sure to wear sunblock and a good hat, a futile attempt to escape from the omnipresent and inclement weather of the caribbean tropics. Going trough my mental notes before sitting in the uncomfortable but well placed chair under the umbrella right where I can watch my sister taking a dive into the water. This is what I'm doing here, a series of paintings of a day in the islands that stretched for over a decade. Oils and acrylics on canvas or recycled wood, based on drawings of my sketchbook I am painting lonely figures in the ever changing waters of the Caribbean sea.
